Hong Kong cops probe suitcase body

2012-04-05 14:03
Hong Kong - Hong Kong police said on Thursday they were investigating the death of a woman whose body was found by swimmers in a suitcase floating in the Chinese city's famed Victoria Harbour.

Police said the woman, who was dressed only in her underwear, was found without any identification documents on Wednesday morning.

Investigators believe she was an Asian woman aged between 20 and 40, and had been dead between four and seven days.

"We will carry out a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death and her identity," said a police spokesperson.

One of the two swimmers who made the grim find told the South China Morning Post daily they pulled the light blue suitcase to shore due to a strong foul smell and called the police after they saw hair spilling out of the suitcase.

The suitcase was 90cm, 60cm in width and 30cm tall, according to the report.
