Huge cigarette bust in Austria

Vienna - Austrian customs authorities seized 364 000 packets of cigarettes after stopping and searching a Greek registered truck close to the German border, officials said on Monday.

The smuggled goods were discovered when customs officers searched the lorry on the highway near the town of Wels, close to the German border.

Officials arrested the vehicle's Greek driver on finding the stash. They said they believed they were destined to be sold on the black market in Britain.

The bust represents one of the largest seizures of counterfeit cigarettes in Austria in recent years.
