Skopje - State television in Macedonia says a 71-year-old woman has been hospitalised with serious injuries after being attacked by a herd of hungry pigs on her farm.

It said the woman from a village near the southern city of Bitola was being treated on Wednesday for a broken jaw, a broken left arm, and an injured shin-bone.

State and private TV said the woman was attacked by about 50 pigs who had apparently not been fed for days when she went inside the pen to catch a piglet for slaughter.
