Iran 'key' to Middle East solution

New York - Israel's hard-line foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman told the United Nations on Tuesday that Iran is at the heart of the Middle East conflict and that a settlement could take decades.

"The Iran issue must be resolved" before there can be a long term agreement with the Palestinians, Lieberman told the UN General Assembly.

He added that, because of the mistrust between Israelis and Palestinians, there should be "a long-term intermediate agreement, something that could take a few decades".
