Iran swipes at Blair

Tehran - Iran took a swipe at embattled British Prime Minister Tony Blair Sunday, attributing his party's loss in local elections to a "blind" pro-American foreign policy.
"The people's vote showed their opposition to Mr Blair's policies of following those of the United States," Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.
"The elections outcome is the result of London's blindly following the US policies, including in Iraq," he added.
Britain and Iran are currently at odds over the Islamic republic's nuclear programme and alleged Iranian meddling in southern Iraq. Iran also accuses Britain of involvement in violence in its oil-rich southwest.
Blair's Labour Party suffered its worst local elections in almost four decades in Thursday's elections, losing more than 300 councillors across England.
