Gaza City - Two Palestinians were killed and several wounded in an Israeli airstrike Friday on a vehicle near the Shatti refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military said the two were recently involved in launching rockets at southern Israel.

At least 30 rockets have been fired from the coastal enclave in the last two weeks. Palestinian sources confirmed the two were militants. In the early morning, an explosive device blew up near an Israeli patrol on the border fence surrounding Gaza.

Israeli forces then opened fire, injuring five people, including two women and a child, according to Palestinian medics. The incidents come amid rising tensions between Israel and the Palestinians. Israel has arrested hundreds of Palestinians in the West Bank after three Israeli teens went missing from a hitch hiking post near a Jewish settlement.

Israel blames Hamas for the kidnappings, though no group has claimed responsibility more than two weeks after the teens were last seen.

Since tensions began to rise, Israeli troops have killed eight Palestinians, including two teenagers, according to the United Nations.
