Israeli PM's plaster cast for sale

Tel Aviv - An enterprising Israeli is auctioning off what is claimed to be the original plaster cast Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wore after injuring his leg while playing football with Jewish and Arab youth in Jerusalem on 11 June.

Bidding for the cast, featured on the Webidz website, starts at $100 000. As of late on Sunday, three days after the item was first put up for sale, there were no offers.

The seller, identified only by the user name saarg, but rumoured in the Israeli media to be female, said she got it from her mother, a nurse at the Jerusalem hospital where Netanyahu had the cast removed on 5 August.

In her description of the item, saarg indicated that the auction was part of the countrywide campaign for social justice - which she described as "to take from the rich and give to the poor".

She wrote that Netanyahu "took a lot of money from people like me and my mom for the last few years - now it's time to take some back".

"This auction is not just an auction - it's a poetic justice auction" she declared.

The auction closes on August 23.
