Nablus - Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager near the northern West Bank city of Nablus on Friday, witnesses and Palestinian medical sources said.
Udai Tantawi, 13, died when an Israeli army patrol opened fire on a group of Palestinians in the Askar refugee camp, the sources said.
An Israeli military source said that an army patrol had come under fire in the area. "The force returned fire towards the source of the shooting. At this point we cannot say whether anyone was hit," the source told AFP.
The shooting comes after two members of the radical Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades were shot dead by Israeli troops overnight in the nearby Balata refugee camp.
The latest deaths mean that a total of 4 840 people, mostly Palestinians, have been killed in the five years since the intifada broke out, according to an AFP toll.
