Seattle - The family of a US man imprisoned nearly a year-and-a-half in North Korea says it's alarmed and saddened the country has canceled a second invitation for a US envoy to talk about his release.

While reeling from that news, Kenneth Bae's sister Terri Chung said in a statement on Monday the family is encouraged by a growing number of people calling for his freedom - the Reverend Jesse Jackson in particular.

Chung says she and her mother have met with Jackson and support his humanitarian mission to bring Bae home.

The 45-year-old Bae, who had been living in China for seven years, was taken into custody in November 2012 while leading a tour group to a North Korea economic zone. Chung says his Christian faith got him into trouble.
