Kids die in flour vat in Romania
Bucharest - Authorities say that four children in a northern Romanian village have apparently died from asphyxiation after they were playing in a vat of flour.
A police statement from Suceava county said on Tuesday that the mother of the children, identified as Angela R, left her children aged three to eight at home in the village of Ghemenea to go shopping late on Monday with an older child.
Police said the youngsters got into the flour vat and soon after the lid shut on top of them.
The mother discovered the bodies when she returned. An autopsy will be carried out.
Mediafax news agency reported that regional social services chief Florin Tarnauceanu has launched an investigation.
