Al Jazeerah Opinion - Palestinians can be a drag sometimes - even paranoid. They reckon all Westerners are out to get them.

And judging from their reaction in recent days, it's clear they never met a media channel they liked.

Their criticism of CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera America is a testimony of their paranoia. It's not like all their homeland is occupied!

Or most of their people dispossessed!  Oops. Okay, actually, it is.Yes, they are.

Indeed, Palestine is under siege, and Palestinians are revolting once again.

Al Jazeerah reported: Israeli officials say the army will carry out more air raids on the Gaza Strip overnight and call up 1 500 military reservists, as the country moves closer to its third major offensive in the Palestinian territory in six years.

Lieutenant colonel Peter Lerner, a spokesperson for the Israeli army, posted a tweet late on Monday saying that the military had launched "Operation Protective Edge" and would be targeting the Palestinian faction Hamas.

Israeli raids were reported all over the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City, with jets attacking empty training camps belonging to Palestinian fighting groups.

Gaza City - An Israeli air strike on a car in Gaza City killed four people on Tuesday, medics said, taking the death toll for the day to five from Israel's air campaign.

"Four people were killed in a Zionist strike on a civilian car in the Daraj neighbourhood in the centre of Gaza City," emergency services spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra told AFP.

There was no immediate confirmation whether the victims were civilians or militants, and Hamas-run Al-Aqsa TV showed gruesome images of charred body parts being loaded onto ambulance stretchers.

It came shortly after an Israeli air strike killed a Palestinian man in central Gaza. Witnesses said the man was a militant of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamist Hamas movement.- AFP

With airstrikes in the Gaza Strip and rocket fire at southern Israel showing no sign of abating, Israeli leaders warned that if the attacks didn’t stop, the IDF could launch a land invasion against Hamas, which it blames for the recent escalation in violence.

Following a meeting with the heads of Israel’s security establishment in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “The gloves are off”.

“Hamas chose this escalation and will pay a heavy price,” he added.

Officials in Jerusalem told The Times of Israel that Netanyahu had therefore instructed the army to launch a “continuous, methodological, and forceful campaign” against the terrorist group in the Gaza Strip. – The Times of Israel
