Jerusalem - In her first foreign policy speech since being slated to lead
Israel's next government, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni promised on Sunday
to continue negotiations with the Palestinian leadership.
"Annapolis will continue," she said, referring to the peace process
relaunched in the US city last year and adding that she supported the
creation of a Palestinian state.
Livni also said that while many world leaders understood the threat
of a nuclear Iran, this had not been translated into strong enough
action, in her view.
She spoke at a conference assessing the state's strategy on foreign
policy.
Livni won the Kadima party primary elections last month and was
chosen by President Shimon Peres to attempt to form a new government,
as current Prime Minister Ehud Olmert submitted his resignation.
