Lottery winner claims R512m

London - Someone in Britain was a lot richer on Tuesday after claiming the country's biggest-ever lottery win - £35 425 411.80 (R512m).
The winner matched all five main numbers and both lucky star
numbers, 23, 40, 42, 43, 49, plus 2 and 6, to claim the entire
EuroMillions jackpot from the August 10 draw.
Camelot, which operates the British arm of the
trans-European lottery, said the lucky ticket holder had now
come forward and the prize had been paid out.
"It is the largest jackpot won by a British person," a
spokesperson said.
Camelot said no further details would be given out unless the person agreed to publicity.
The amount dwarfs the previous biggest British EuroMillions
win by Marion Richardson, from Gateshead, northeast England, who
netted £16.8m in April 2004.
The largest jackpot the game produced was £126m, shared between two winners from France and one from Portugal in February last year.
The previous biggest-ever non-rollover lottery win in Britain went to Paul Maddison and Mark Gardiner in June 1995 when they scooped £22.5m on the Lotto game.
