Raqqa - A Syrian man has been thrown off a building in Raqqa by ISIS militants for having a ‘homosexual affair’, and was then stoned to death by a crowd after he survived the fall.

Photographs of the incident, which reportedly happened late January, emerged on file sharing network LiveLeak last week picturing an elderly man believed to be in his 50s sitting on a chair on top of a Syrian tower block in the town of Tal Abyad in Raqqa, the Daily Mail reported.

The man could be seen surrounded by militants wearing black balaclavas.

The militants reportedly read a ‘judgment’ aloud denouncing his sexual orientation, before throwing the victim ‘from the highest point in the city’ as punishment, the Mirror reported.

After surviving the fall from the seven-story building, the man was seen being attended to by militants on the ground, seemingly checking up on his condition.

But moments later a crowd including children surrounded the man and proceeded to stone him to death, a network of activists for the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.

This is not the first such incident to occur in ISIS-occupied territory in the last few weeks, the SOHR claims.

In a very similar vein, two men accused of homosexual acts had been thrown off a three-story building in an area in Northern Iraq in December, the Telegraph reported.

Those images too were captured and posted on a jihadist website, while it is unknown whether the men in question survived the incident.

The following series of images are screen grabs taken from a video which captured the incident, uploaded onto LiveLeak on 30 January.
