Mom imprisoned for starving daughter

2011-06-03 22:33

Las Cruces - A New Mexico woman will serve 25 years in prison for the death of her daughter, who withered away from malnutrition and dehydration while the mother chatted and played World of Warcraft online.

The Las Cruces Sun News reported that 28-year-old Rebecca Colleen Christie was sentenced in federal court for her November 2009 conviction on second-degree murder and child abandonment charges.

Prosecutors say three-year-old Brandi Wulf had gained just a few kilogrammes in the last year of her life and weighed 10.4kg when Christie called police on January 26 2006 to report that her daughter had become limp and unconscious.

Christie's ex-husband, US Air Force sergeant Derek Wulf pleaded guilty to child neglect and will be sentenced on June 15. He was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base at the time.

What a disgrace. Not worth being called a mother! Brandi will now be in the loving hands of her Father for eternal life. Rest in peace little one.

I agree with your comment of her not being worthy of being called a mother but your god comment is completely lost. Where was this awesome god while this poor child suffered so greviously? Oh, wait he has a great plan doesn't he and that plan seems to be to do unspeakable things to people here on earth so he can comfort them once they are dead? Ridiculous.

@atheists do you honestly believe that there are no more to reality than eating, breathing, crapping and feeding human desires and then dying, and then you simply cease to exist?? Do you not believe that you have a sole? Did this world come about by accident somehow? Did the clever design/engineering of even a simple organism just happen by accident? It doesn't mean that because there are wrongs in this world God doesn't exist. Perhaps he gave us a thing called FREE WILL so that we take responsibility for the things we do or don't do. Ultimately we all shall be judged. @Alfred you have no idea what an arrogant son of a b@#ch you are!

What if they were Asian and believed in reincarnation and Buddha?

      Mikemcc - 2011-06-04 09:39

@Tea party. So how does a 3 year old take responsibility for what happens to them? Why would you for a moment think that there is more to come once you die and how come this only applies to humans? Why would you think that there is this mystical entity called a soul that does nothing for you throughout your entire existence on earth but magically transports you to another realm when you die? Oh yes, and this only happens if you chose to believe in the correct deity even though you may never have been told about it. If god exists and allows these wrongs to occur then what type of god is that and why would you want to be subservient to it? I once read a comment by someone that explained this reasoning of yours quite well, if god exists then it is the same as your father hanging you over a balcony and pretending to drop you until you are screaming in fear and then bringing you back inside and comforting you saying "you see how merciful and great I am". I can only laugh at how you refer to Alfred as arrogant.

Tea Party, that could very well be the case, but i don't need the existance of some super-powerfull being naming me as it's ultimate creation to make my life bearable (the arrogance in this is astounding at times). The fact that i might just be another organisim in the universe really doesn't bother me. Why? Because i don't need to constantly remind myself that i'm worth so much more than everyone else and need constant reassurance of that fact in order to keep breathing. To stay on topic: That b*tch should be thrown into a pit full of ticks.

Don't bother feeding the parents in prison, so that they can feel what it's like to die from hunger

I am almost sure that in South Africa she would have been given community sentence or 18 months suspended
