New judges join Strictly

London - Singer Alesha Dixon and former Royal Ballet star Darcey Bussell will join the "Strictly Come Dancing" panel of judges when the programme returns in the Autumn, the BBC announced on Thursday.

Dixon, 30, who won series five of the programme in 2007, will replace Arlene Phillips as a permanent member of the judges while Bussell will appear as a guest judge toward the end of the coming run.

"As former Strictly champion, Alesha knows exactly what it takes to win," said Jay Hunt, Controller of BBC One. "Her eye for great performance and her charisma and charm make Alesha a great addition to the judging panel.

"Darcey has impeccable credentials as a dancer and, as a guest judge, she will bring an exciting new dimension to the last few weeks of the Strictly competition."

Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood are all set to return to the show this Autumn.

Smell says... Hi Vegi. I do not think I have ever replied to one of your comments. You seem to be angry, and possibly with good reason. Not a good and healthy state of mind though. However, with regards to your swipe at Colonialism: Remember that the transition from the primitive to the advanced is a hard road to travel. The entire human race had to go through that. Some earlier than others. The Colonists were often brutal. The Colonized suffered, but made advances that took the Colonists thousands of years to achieve. We are part of the animal kingdom. The strongest, brightest and most advanced rule, and set the pace. And let me make it clear, I do not believe in ethnic supremacy - success comes from the general rules your society live by (hard work, family planning, avoid intoxicants, relentless pursuit of education). And the Colonists were not all bad - they have had many people like William Wilberforce in their ranks. Read the article...
