No change to US military posture in Mideast
Washington - The US military has not adjusted its military posture because of the protests and turmoil in Egypt, Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairperson of the US military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Friday.
"I think we're in a higher state of awareness, but we haven't increased our alert levels or readiness levels," Mullen said on ABC News' Good Morning America show. "Obviously we're very focused on this throughout the region."
Mullen said he has talked to his military counterpart in Egypt who assured him that they will not fire on the Egyptian people and that the military has worked hard to remain neutral during the political crisis playing out on the streets.
