'Octomom' files for bankruptcy

2012-05-01 09:30

Santa Ana - "Octomom" Nadya Suleman is filing for bankruptcy, telling a federal court she has as much as $1m in debt.

The Orange County Register reports that Suleman wants a fresh start and says filing for bankruptcy is what's best for her 14 children.

Suleman reportedly has up to $50 000 in assets in federal court filings.

Suleman will file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which means a court-appointed trustee would liquidate her assets to pay off creditors before she is discharged from most of her debts.

Among others, Suleman owes money to her father, the city's water department, DirecTV and Whittier Christian School, which at least some of her children attend.

Suleman became known as Octomom after she gave birth to eight babies in January 2009. They are the world's longest-living octuplets.

If you can't pay for the children (and you're plastic surgery) I suggest you don't have them to begin with. And before anyone blurts out octuplets, they were after her 6th child. I suggest the court appoint someone to look after her financial affairs for the sake of the children as a condition for bankruptcy.

She spends money like there is no tomorrow[I have watched the doccy on her] and doesnt seem to get the fact that there are 14 children who depend on her! She has done the reality tv route, various photo shoots, numerous paid tv appearences, for which she received large sums of money-yet she is still broke!
