One dead in French nuke site blast

Paris - One person was killed in an explosion at the nuclear site of Marcoule in southern France, the country's ASN nuclear watchdog said on Monday.

There was, however, no leak of radioactive material, ASN said.

Marcoule is a nuclear waste management site that does not include any reactors.

The explosion took place near a furnace, a watchdog spokesperson told Reuters.
