Palestinian official blasts Romney

2012-07-30 12:03

Jericho — A senior Palestinian official says Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's assertion that Jerusalem is Israel's capital is "absolutely unacceptable".

Palestinian officials have largely remained silent during Romney's Israel trip, and Saeb Erekat's comments on Monday marked the strongest public criticism so far of the candidate.

The Palestinians want to establish a capital in east Jerusalem, captured and annexed by Israel in 1967. Most of the world, including the US, does not recognise the annexation. The US and others keep their embassies in Tel Aviv.

Romney said on Sunday that Jerusalem is Israel's capital and strongly suggested he would move the US embassy to Jerusalem if he were president, supporting two key Israeli demands.

Erekat says Romney's comments are "disturbing", reward "occupation and aggression" and go against long-standing US policy.

What an idiot.. Bought and paid for by the Zionists.. If this guy becomes president. It will be the end of civilisation as we know it.

      boom.baracus - 2012-07-30 13:04

Why, because he has a view different to yours?

      Warwick - 2012-07-30 13:20

      Explain further.

      Boos - 2012-07-30 14:08

No greg... you seem to be the idiot.

      Greg - 2012-07-30 14:27

Look at Israel and Iran. They are sworn Enemies. According to Israel, the Muslim's wants Judaism and the Jews to be destroyed. (Which is BS) IsraHEL has beaten the war drums on Iran many, many times. They practically begged USA to start a war with Iran (to destroy its non existent nukes (Iraq 2.0?), but due to it being election time, Obama couldn't afford this to happen. With this guy saying he supports Isreal and will do anything it tells him to do means that war with Iran is Imminent, and you know what? 1 Nuke is more than enough to start a global war. This guy wants war and is a religious fanatic. You cant make decisions that benefit humanity when your brainwashed by religion. Do a little research on Zionism and were it came from. Also do some research on the occupation happening in Palestine. Its much worse than apartheid ever was.

      Greg - 2012-07-30 14:30

Oh, Also do some research on Romney himself. He is nothing more than a wealthy investor who avoids paying taxes and has no interest in protecting the US constitution.

Israel was created in 1948 from 52% of the land formerly occupied by the Jewish and Palestinian people, and Palestine 43%. Most of the Israeli territory was the Negev Desert. Jerusalem fell into neither territory. Palestinians with their unelected neighbors declared war on her the very next day. The very next day. In the 1960's they invaded Israel twice. Full military invasions. The result: Israel survived and pushed them back, gaining territory in the process. This is the origin of what you wrongly call the occupied territories. There have been almost daily attacks by Palestinians, incited by their self-serving unelected backers. Palestinians even teach their children at Kindergarten to attack Israel, rather than be peaceful. Children. Kindergarten. Think about this. From day one, and even today it's wage war on Israel. All that needs to happen is for Palestinians to choose peace side by side with Israel. This is more likely going forward now because the unelected dictators are being removed from power by their people one by one. They will no longer use the Palestinians for their own internal political ploys. Clearly you haven't done much "research" on Israel.

The Iranian regime adjusts elections to hold onto power. It has stolen the Iranian government from the Iranian people. It funds the Jihadist movement that has killed and maimed hundreds of thousands of innocent people, mainly Muslims, in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. It is actively supporting the unelected dictator Bashar Assad's brutal oppression of Syrians just because they want to vote. It supports the stoning of women. It openly calls for the elimination of Israel. And it denies the Holocaust, the single biggest attempt at human genocide in human history: six million people exterminated. Again, you clearly have little real knowledge of who the Iranian regime is, and what they do.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-07-30 16:50

Regarding Mitt Romney, your knowledge about him is as sketchy and distorted as your knowledge on Israel and the Iranian regime.

Ahh well ...Romney will say and do anything to get the jewish votes. Even endorse illegal occupation. Absolute shame !!

      boom.baracus - 2012-07-30 13:05

There is international legal precedence for Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem. The arab states should not have all attacked Israel if they could not deal with the consequences.

      henry.bose.39 - 2012-07-30 13:06

April 637 AD was the date the illegal occupation began. Jerusalem was briefly liberated during the crusades. Jerusalem is again free of the imperialists since 1967. God bless America and Israel and protect them from the blood thirsty monsters who wish them harm.

Retard, the scary thing is the amount of votes this idiot will get in the US. Suggesting many more retards from where he comes from.

      larry.lachman.54 - 2012-07-30 16:44

How does a retard recognise a retard?

      ghengis.khan.585 - 2012-07-30 17:00

Larry, Im no retard but by the sounds of your repeated questions you must be one. Get a life beyond pro Israel propaganda.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-07-30 17:04

Unfortunately the person being retarded if you, again.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-07-30 18:02

Ghengis, as has been pointed out to you many times by a number of people, the person who's falling for superficial, popular propaganda is you. In addition, if you think this "retard" comment that you've posted has any value, it doesn't. It's pretty dumb. You actually spent several minutes posting it. Think about that.

  • Larry - 2012-07-30 12:31

Jerusalem is and will remain the undivided Jewish capital of Israel. None can undo this and only Israel can decide where its capital city will be situated. There will never be a Palestinian state if they stick to their demand.

  • justice.ubuntu - 2012-07-30 13:07

Mitt really is a Twit...!! His understanding of international politics would be hilarious if it wasn't so dangerous... He is like a kid-cowboy with plastic six-shooters strapped to his side being given a real loaded pistol...

      larry.lachman.54 - 2012-07-30 16:43

...and you are what? An expert on international politics. Much not.

  • dane.herbst.5 - 2012-07-30 13:43

    Ron Paul

  • Boos - 2012-07-30 14:11

All Israel haters, go do your research (and no...propaganda isn't research material).
