Peres: We trust US policy on Iran

Jerusalem - Israeli President Shimon Peres says his nation trusts the US policy to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Peres says Iran constitutes the greatest danger to Israel's security.

But he's also pointing to threats from Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and from Lebanon's Hezbollah.

The US has vowed to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, but has said it prefers a diplomatic solution to one requiring a military intervention.

But Israel's government has warned the window to act could close as soon as this summer.

Peres spoke alongside President Barack Obama after the two met in Jerusalem.

Obama arrived in Israel on Wednesday on his first trip to Israel as president.
