Protester throws egg at Sarkozy

Dublin - A French waiter who threw an egg at the car carrying President Nicholas Sarkozy during his visit to Dublin this week is ready to do the same again, he told Irish media on Thursday.

Michael Audron, 35, was charged on Monday with "threatening, insulting and abusive behaviour", but a judge in Dublin district court threw out the indictment after he agreed to pay €150 to charity.

The unrepentant protestor, who was among 1 800 demonstrators who took to the streets during the visit over Ireland's rejection of a new EU treaty, has acknowledged he has more eggs on standby for any return visit by Sarkozy.

"I have absolutely no regrets and, if he is coming back again, I will be there with more than a dozen eggs," he told the Irish Times.

He is using eggs to pay his fine by making crepes every night this week at a street festival in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, in the northwest of Ireland where he has lived for several years.

The egg-throwing was the only public order incident during a visit by Sarkozy who had talks with the Irish government about the country's shock 53% rejection of the European Union's key Lisbon Treaty last month.

France currently holds the rotating EU presidency.

Fidel says... Another knee-jerk response. I've qouted a statement by a CEO of a major US corporation with links to an ex US vice president which shows why the US/Nato powers are engaged in global warfare, ACCESS TO MARKETS. The sensible question is why is it that the USA continues to spend hundreds of billions of dollars every year on defence 20 years after it is the sole superpower. If the USA is the beacon of democracy and the moral argument has been won, why does it still need to spend so much money defending itself against those who have quite clearly lost the argument? NATO's hidden agenda is to blunt the upcoming alternative economies. They did it in Serbia, Iraq,Libya, may be salivating to do it in Syria and Iran, and down the track may be dreaming to do in China, India, Russia too. The guns of Dewey in Manila Bay were heard across Asia and Africa , they echoed through the palace at Peking and brought to the Oriental mind a new and potent force among western nations. We, in common with the countries of Europe, are striving to enter the limitless markets of the east.... These people respect nothing but power. I believe the Philippines will be enormous markets and sources of wealth.” Chauncey DePew, now a US Senator. It's there in black and white!
