Quake hits El Salvador, Guatemala

Washington - A 6.0-magnitude quake struck on Monday near the west coast of El Salvador and Guatemala, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake registered at 09:40 (15:40 GMT) in an area 39km west-southwest of Ahuachapan, El Salvaodr and 53km west-southwest of Cuilapa, Guatemala, the agency said.

It said the quake, which occurred at a depth of 103km, had a magnitude of 6.0.
