Rendition: Britain helped US
London - A British official says Britain helped the United States in a programme to secretly transfer terrorism suspects across the world.
British airports were used in a programme of so-called extraordinary rendition, the official said on Thursday, demanding anonymity to discuss sensitive counterterrorism work.
The government had previously insisted it had no evidence to support allegations that Britain had been involved in rendition.
Britain's Foreign Secretary David Miliband is due to make a statement to lawmakers to give full details of Britain's part in the programme.
