Washington - Outgoing US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice predicted on Sunday that Hillary Clinton will "do a great job" succeeding her at the State Department because of her love of country and faith in US values.
"She's terrific," Rice told ABC television.
"I have known her for a long time, ever since she brought her freshman daughter (Chelsea) to Stanford (University) when I was provost at Stanford. I think she's going to be terrific," Rice said.
"President-elect (Barack) Obama has made his choice and he's made a terrific choice. Hillary Clinton is someone of intelligence and she'll do a great job," the top US diplomat said.
"She also has what's most important to be secretary of state, and that is that you love this country and you represent it from the basic of faith in its values, and I know that she will do that," Rice said.
During a visit to London last week, just before Obama announced Clinton as his choice for top diplomat, Rice said Clinton is an "inspiration" and would "bring enormous energy and intellect" as her successor.
