Scores dead in China quake: Reports

Beijing - The death toll from a strong quake that struck southwest China's Sichuan province on Saturday stood at 46, according to the official Xinhua news agency, quoting the provincial government.

CCTV News had earlier reported 72 deaths but revised that down to 47, citing the Sichuan emergency authorities.

The shallow earthquake struck just after 08:00 at a depth of 12km, destroying buildings and setting off landslides.
