Settlers uproot olive trees

Tel Aviv - Israeli settlers uprooted 200 olive trees belonging to a village in the northern West Bank, Palestinians said on Sunday.
The destruction of the trees at Salem village, near Nablus, came a day after Israeli volunteers helped villagers replant trees which settlers destroyed one month ago.
Attacks on Palestinian olive groves - the main source of income for many families in the West Bank - have become commonplace since the outbreak of the Palestinian uprising in September 2000.
Palestinians say their complaints to the authorities have not resulted in any action against settlers who uproot their trees.
An Israeli army spokesperson said on Sunday's uprooting was a matter for the Israeli police. - Sapa-dpa
