Jerusalem - The new party of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is to be called "Kadima" or "Forwards" in Hebrew, reported Israeli public radio.
The centre-right organisation must be formally registered on Thursday in order to take part in legislative elections happening in March.
President Moshe Katsav signed a decree for the dissolution of parliament on Wednesday after consultations with Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin, paved the way for the vote on March 28.
On Monday, Sharon asked Katsav to dissolve the parliament, the same day he announced he was splitting from his right-wing Likud party and forming a new centrist faction.
Cabinet minister without portfolio Haim Ramon had become the first senior member of the centre-left Labour Party to declare he was joining Sharon's new venture, which had already attracted 14 deputies from the Likud.
