Shock after priest endorses paedophilia

2011-05-21 14:06

Amsterdam - The Dutch Catholic Church and the Salesian order say they will investigate revelations one of the order's priests served on the board of an organisation that promotes paedophilia - with the knowledge of the order's top official in the Netherlands.

The official, delegate Herman Spronck, confirmed in a statement that the priest identified as "Father Van B" served on the board of the "Martijn" organisation, which advocates adult-child sex.

However, Spronck's own superior in Belgium says he will investigate both Spronck and Van B, after Spronck was quoted by RTL Nieuws as saying such relationships aren't always harmful.

Church spokesperson Pieter Kohnen said on Saturday that even with sex abuse scandals rocking Catholicism, this case was "unbelievable".

Aren't always harmful? What?!?!?! A wolf in sheep's clothing - just another anti-christ. Another reason why one can only judge christianity on the lifestyle of Jesus Christ alone - it is these false representatives of christianity that make so many people not want to believe ...

      Dundermoose - 2011-05-21 14:28

I want to agree, but I don't know if I like your comment "Another reason why one can only judge christianity on the lifestyle of Jesus Christ alone". But I do think such priests are killing the church. I mean how can they make vows to the church and then take part in activities that are soooo against the teachings of Christ!! This is as sad as it is shocking.

      Joe_Massahar - 2011-05-21 14:30

Like communism, christianity is a great idea - it's people that mess it up!!!

      maverix - 2011-05-21 14:49

actually, it isn't the false representatives of christianity that make so many people not want to believe. it's the complete lack of evidence that any type of god exists at all.

      Tooth Fairie - 2011-05-21 15:35

Abstinence makes the priest go fondler... If you think this is sick, check this guy!!! "I had children only because I wanted them to serve and worship me. I told my children never to touch the fruit bowl. They were naughty and touched it though, so I threw them out in the middle of winter and cursed them to suffer horribly for the rest of their lives, and for all subsequent generations to suffer also. I forgave them by sending my newest child to them to be tortured and murdered. Am I a bit sick?"-- Alan Harvey

      Redwine - 2011-05-21 15:46

You might be surprised to find out that very little is known Jesus as a person. The Bible is a work of fiction filled with all sorts of useless information but you ask them to account for the first 20+years of His life it fills little more than a paragraph. You would think that these guys writing this would have better research than that. How can you regard anybody as a king of you have no idea what he did in this case nearly all his life.

      Redwine - 2011-05-21 15:51

The one record however we do have is that He also interacted with the priests as a young boy. Seems this as old as history itself. It is a known fact that Arabs prefer boys to woman.

      Grayman - 2011-05-21 17:58

@ Redwine, I find it amusing that you are willing to debunk overwhelming historical evidence on the factual authenticity of the life and times of Jesus Christ, yet you will hang on to one record that you have distorted to fulfil your conspiracy theory.

      Howzitekse - 2011-05-22 01:20

Redwine, you are so enlightened. Where did you learn this deep stuff?

      zaatheist - 2011-05-22 05:03

Aha! The buybull. The bible.is a work of fiction; a book compiled from the plagiarised texts of ancient religions by bronze age sheep herders; translated from Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek texts to Latin and edited by the Catholic Church, translated into English and re-edited by the Church of England as instructed by King James to conform with his views, and interpreted to fit the preexisting values of anyone who quotes from it,.

      Alfred - 2011-05-22 05:52

@Grayman Be so kind as to actually provide references to your claims of overwhelming evidence. Funny thing is that there is no reference of Jesus in the Roman records of the time, Pontius Pilot yes, Jesus no. None of the historians alive at the time made any reference to Jesus. The first writings on Jesus was by Josephson 80 years after the claimed death of this so called Jesus and Josephson was a christian so his writing cannot claim to be objective. Oh and the bible does not qualify as evidence.

  • oddearring - 2011-05-21 14:29

Are they out of their frikkin minds?

      lotus.lindi - 2011-05-21 20:25

No, not out of their minds. Just choosing to act evilly because of the darkness of their souls. A Christian is by definition "one who follows Christ". These wicked men may be priests and they may call themselves Christians, but in reality, they are phonies, abusing their positions of trust in order to abuse defenceless children. According to the Bible which they ought to be living by, they will appear before Lord Jesus Christ, whose name they blaspheme by their actions, and will answer to Him for their evil one day. In the meantime, I hope the secular authorities will not allow the so-called "Church" to "investigate" without itself bringing these dreadful priests to trial and the harshest possible penalties for their crimes. One might be forgiven for wondering if peadophilia is a qualification for the job of priest in Roman Catholic circles , because it's not a new problem and the Church displays no commitment to rooting it out. Interminable investigation and redeployment is hardly a solution! Take these people out of society! They have forfeit their right to be there.

  • Huey Freeman - 2011-05-21 14:33

I am sure it is in the Old Testament somewhere, near the bits about what to do when your son starts marrying slaves.

      Howzitekse - 2011-05-22 01:34

Why does the Catholic Church still exist? What kind of person belongs to a group that tolerates this kind of thing. Don't people have a moral compass that guides them? I have no religious links, but if there is such a thing as Satan, surely his followers would act like these priests?

  • GHL - 2011-05-21 14:38

Again, it seems everybody is missing the point that it is one priest who is doing something that is WRONG and that the Church is actually investigating it! St. Peter was the chief apostle and he wrote epistles which form part of Scripture, but he BETRAYED Christ three times! No man is perfect, certainly not this priest, but just because an individual endorses something does not mean the Church agrees!

      Sb6 - 2011-05-21 15:02

Well, Ratzinger did say "don't tell anyone about all the child abuse".. and the Salesian Order thought that him being a member and exposing himself in public weren't grounds for disciplining him...

      RVQ - 2011-05-21 15:14

Sounds like a response from the ANC, yet we never really see appropriate action?

      World Traveler - 2011-05-21 15:41

      Do you vote anc? acdp?

      lotus.lindi - 2011-05-21 20:43

The (so-called)church is ALWAYS investigating these allegations. When did you ever hear of it taking strong and decisive ACTION against this EVIL? This isn't just a minor "imperfection"! It is gross wickedness of the most unloving and unchristian kind! It's not just one priest either. That's the whole point. My Roman Catholic friends were very wary of one of our two local priests when I was a child for the same reason. If I, who didn't even attend that church was aware of it, do you think the OTHER priest didn't know? This is a widespread, systemic rot. Don't make excuses for your priests. Jesus said "whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble,it is better for him that a heavy millstone be hung around his neck, and that he be drowned in the depth of the sea." Those words are loving towards children and society. Evil like this needs to be STOPPED, not just confessed and received penance for!

  • Proffie - 2011-05-21 14:39

I was born RC, Roman Catholic. I am now RC, Retired Catholic. What those men in skirts get up to is unbelievably disgusting. The church should do itself a favour, just implode.

  • mbube - 2011-05-21 14:53

And we will pray for you too......

      lotus.lindi - 2011-05-21 20:50

These guys are not and never where "in the Jesus camp". Jesus never advocated a celibate priesthood, the confessional, a pope, veneration of the saints, maryology or paedophilia. But you're absolutely right about moral rock bottom.

  • mabsie - 2011-05-21 15:26

  • World Traveler - 2011-05-21 15:36

O God, the everlasting Creator of all things, remember that the souls of unbelievers were made by Thee and formed in Thine own image and likeness. Remember that Jesus, Thy Son, endured a most bitter death for their salvation. Permit not, I beseech Thee, O Lord, that Thy Son should be any longer despised by unbelievers, but do Thou graciously accept the prayers of holy men and of the Church, the Spouse of Thy most holy Son, and be mindful of Thy mercy. Forget their idolatry and unbelief, and grant that they too may some day know Him whom Thou hast sent, even the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our Salvation, our Life and Resurrection, by whom we have been saved and delivered, to whom be glory for endless ages. Amen.

      maverix - 2011-05-21 15:57

this makes just as much sense: "O Flying Spaghetti Monster, the everlasting Creator of all things, remember that the souls of unbelievers were made by Thee and formed in Thine own image and likeness. Remember that Invisible Pink Unicorn endured a most bitter death for their salvation. Permit not, I beseech Thee, O FSM, that Invisible Pink Unicorn should be any longer despised by unbelievers, but do Thou graciously accept the prayers of holy men and of the Church, the Spouse of Thy most holy IPU, and be mindful of Thy mercy. Forget their idolatry and unbelief, and grant that they too may some day know Him whom Thou hast sent, even the Lord Invisible Pink Unicorn , who is our Salvation, our Life and Resurrection, by whom we have been saved and delivered, to whom be glory for endless ages. Another step backwards, however, maybe not considering all of this is coming to light now which shows that people are starting to take a stand against immorality and injustice. God Is not great - religion poisons everything! Read the book by Christopher Hitchens or google youtube to watch his debating religious leaders, none of whom can offer any proof of his existence other then what our superstitiously ignorant ancestors have to offer in their so-called "holy" books.

      lotus.lindi - 2011-05-21 20:52

Oh please. Prove that you exist.

      Howzitekse - 2011-05-22 01:39

People like C.Hitchens are making a fast buck. If he does not believe in God, why does he not just get on with his life? Why argue about it? Like the priests, he is in it for the money.

Sure, and those who cover up for them are also atheists, right up to the top.

      HCrouse - 2011-06-02 10:46

yeah right BadChecker. No religious person could do that? In my experience, atheists are the most moral individuals out there. It's crazy religious scumbags like yourself that are dragging the world down, and this article is just one example of it.

  • Sarah - 2011-05-21 22:45

The plain message here is that Catholics are going to have to get used to pedophilia in their church and somehow incorporate it into their perception of Catholic doctrine. In the same way that these two priests and this group ask society to incorporate it into their laws. No point anymore in current Catholics protesting it. Love it or leave it is the direct message of the church here. Everyone should stop pretending about this. It's not news anymore. Catholics have accepted pedophilia in at least some sectors of their church. And everyone knows it.

      Susannomore - 2011-05-23 10:15

In fact a great deal is known about the WHOLE life of Yeshua the Nazarene. Only the church denies it. He was the blood son of Yofsew and Miriam and a linear descendent of King David, was on all accounts married to Miriam from Magdal ("The Magdalene"), was anointed as King of Yisra-El and was hanged by the Romans for that act of sessession. What a man! A true zealot and freedom fighter. Straight thereafter the armed revolution against the Romans started and was only finally suppressed when the last of the zealots committed mass suicide on Massada. He deserves everyone's respect and an act to follow - a true prophet and Rabbi BUT HE WAS NOT GOD. He never said that, not even in the grossly edited so-called gospels.

I have devoted an entire chapter about paedophiles and paedophile organizations in my book, which is for South African readers. Every Parents Nightmare. by Bruna Dessena. What is disturbing is the amount of literature on Martijn .org written by educated, people, in high positins in society that continually advocate there is no abuse, it is consenting, it has been proven to not harm children..etc etc. Lets us not forget that there is a huge difference in age, power, size, experience and that the adult is always in the wrong.

  • Balldrick - 2011-11-11 12:16

The Roman Catholic Church is not the centre of Christianity and certainly not the representative of many Christians. A church represents a religion and not always what God has taught. The Roman Catholic Church has left out certain of the Ten Commandments so they can justify tthe acions of the Churc. They are not acting according to the will of God our Father and definately has demonic tendencies. So please don't equate the actions of the Roman Catholic priests to all Christianity.
