Rio de Janeiro - Two people were killed and a further 10
injured in a shoot-out at a bar in Nova Friburgo, in the mountains of the
Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, where a Carnival group was rehearsing,
Brazilian media reported on Monday.
The attack happened late on Sunday, when a man opened
fire on people at the bar, the daily Folha de Sao Paulo reported.
The shooter then fled the scene, reportedly with three
accomplices.
The injured were taken to hospital.
Police said they had identified the attacker, reportedly
a resident of Olaria, the neighbourhood where the shooting happened.
He was yet to be arrested.
Media reported the attack was likely a vendetta against a
young man at the bar who was killed in the shooting.
Carnival, in early February this year, is a huge event
around Brazil, most famously in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Carnival groups rehearse for months to put on colourful
shows around the country during the event.
