Ottawa - A gunman opened fire inside a
downtown Montreal college on Wednesday and at least four people
were taken away by ambulance, television networks said.
The attack happened at Dawson College in central
Montreal, which is attended by about 10 000 students.
Television pictures showed students fleeing from the campus
and a pool of blood on the front steps of the college.
CTV said one eyewitness spoke of up to 20 shots being fired
while another said the shooting had taken place in the
college's cafeteria.
In December 1989 a gunman shot and killed 14 young women in
Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique, before turning the gun on
himself.
