Brussels - A Belgian man angered by the bragging of French soccer fans during the 2006 World Cup slashed the tyres of dozens of French cars.
The 30-year-old started to target cars with French licence plates in the border town of Tournai after the tournament in which France were beaten finalists.
"That is when he started feeling this resentment," said Magistrate Jean-Bernard Cambier on Thursday.
Belgium's national team failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup.
Tests showed the man, who pleaded guilty, was not suffering from mental illness and he now faces a prison sentence.
Sentence is expected to be passed on September 25.
