Jerusalem - Israeli officials on Wednesday confirmed that Israeli citizens were
targeted in an attack on tourists at Bulgaria's Bourgas Airport, which
Bulgarian ministry sources said left three people dead.
The Bulgarian interior ministry said three people were killed and more than 20 injured in a blast on a bus at the Black Sea airport.
"What we
know is that sometime close to 17:00 there was a flight that landed in
Bourgas, the passengers went onto a bus and then there was an explosion," said Ilana Stein, deputy spokesperson
for the Israeli foreign ministry.
Witnesses speaking to Israel's Channel 2 TV said that someone boarded the bus and a huge explosion immediately followed.
An Israeli witness told Army Radio he believed the attack was caused by a suicide bomber.
State BNR radio reported that that two more buses
also caught fire.
