Suspect package found on bus

Edinburgh - Police evacuated a section of Edinburgh's main shopping street on Thursday after a suspect package was found on a bus.

The local police said they had cordoned off a section of Princes Street in the Scottish capital and that a bomb disposal team was investigating.

Scottish police said officers were on high alert because of the G8 summit meeting this week in Gleneagles - about 55km northwest of Edinburgh - and following the wave of bombings in London.
