Syria bars UN humanitarian chief

2012-02-29 22:46

New York - UN humanitarian chief Valerie Amos said on Wednesday that Syria has not approved her repeated requests to visit the conflict-wracked country.

Amos said in a statement that she is "deeply disappointed" that she has not been able to visit Syria despite her requests to meet officials at the highest level "to discuss the humanitarian situation and the need for unhindered access to the people affected by the violence".

UN diplomats said Amos went to Beirut to wait for a visa, but received no response.

I think the heartless, cruel UNELECTED Assad regime is going to survive several more months until Putin is gone and the Chinese regime is changed. Then it's lights out Bashar and cronies. The racist and oppressive Ayahtollas of Iran are trying to sneak their elections in before the change-over in Syria. There'll be turmoil there because they're likely to alter the results again. Once Assad is gone, it'll be Iran. The Palestinians won't be abused by these regimes any longer. They'll have a country of their own. This'll take time, because they're so attuned to the lie sold to them by their abusers. But like in North Korea, where change happened so suddenly and easily, this is possible in Palestine. Wow! What times we're living in.

Exactly right Fred. Iran just wants to get one step closer to Israel, besides they aren't concerned what the UN has to say anyway. Everyone knows the UN has become a dog with no bite.

      Paul - 2012-03-01 05:59

Two brainless stereotypes whose only source of information is the corporate media.

      Fred - 2012-03-01 06:34

      What's your opinion then Paul?

      Fred - 2012-03-01 08:15

How can a civil war be a best outcome? That's absurd, heartless.

      Anthony - 2012-03-01 09:42

Patrick, WHAT is your problem with the Americans ??? Go and attack them over their fast food, or whatever, But they continuously say they don't want to get involved on the ground in Syria, not even by arming the opposition. WHAT part don't you understand ?????

      Anthony - 2012-03-01 15:17

Patrick, I start to wonder if it makes any sense responding to your posts.Your comments are getting stranger by the day!! I repeat again, the ones who support dictators and tyrants, always try to confuse, by involving other irrelevant issues. Go and tell these brave Syrians, who risk their lives every day, to get these assad thugs out of power, about Iraq and Afganistan, and they will look at you,as if you lost your marbles. Can you imagine during the SA struggle, if others would mention Brazil or Argentina !!!!!!!!!!!!!!????!!!!!!!!

      Fred - 2012-03-01 16:47

Patrick, in addition to your racism and bigotry that you plaster all over this website, you continue to smooth all Muslim people together and fail to recognize the difference between the truer Muslim religion and the excuse for the Muslim religion that the extremists practice in their attempts to terrorize the world into going backwards in time. And most importantly, you continue to overlook the fact that they have killed HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CIVILIANS intentionally with their car bombs and suicide attacks the world over.

Fred and Anthony, please watch "The Money Masters" on YouTube. Thank me later ! Please try watch with an open mind, and get through the first half hour at least. Cheers

      Fred - 2012-03-03 17:05

No Patrick, you're wrong about this as well. And what's word is those deaths and mailings were intentional. Think about it. And understand that the freer world is clear what is going and will not relent, even when people such as you delude yourself.

      Fred - 2012-03-03 17:06

Matt, I've lived long enough and done enough to recognize faulty, one-dimensional information that ignores whole swathes of reality.

  • John - 2012-03-01 06:22

Paul, the only brainless person is you for still supporting the SACP.

  • William - 2012-03-01 08:07

The chances of Putin going are slim. Regime change in China?????!!!!! You are smoking some of the good stuff!!!!

      Fred - 2012-03-01 08:14

Let's talk again at year's end.

      Fred - 2012-03-01 16:48

William, just a thought for you to consider: are you aware that this year alone, fully one-third of the world's leaders are up for replacement? Incredible isn't it.

This is the same discredited charlatan whose organisation screamed of viagra rapes and black mercenaries in Libya. Good on the government of Syria because her organisation has lost all legitimacy.

      Fred - 2012-03-01 16:50

Actually it was Gaddafi who went psychotic and screamed that drug-inducing foreigners were behind the Libyan people's demands for THE RIGHT TO VOTE. And everyone knows he hired thousands of mercenaries from neighboring countries to fight his inhuman war.

      Fred - 2012-03-03 17:08

In your view, I understand Patrick. You prefer dictatorships and ignore their violent, self-serving ways. South Africans on the other hand know about oppression, what it really means when a group of people have hijacked a state and use state resources largely for their own ends. Thankfully you're among an ever reducing minority in the world who support these regimes.
