2012-07-18 13:28

Beirut - A suicide bomber who detonated explosives at meeting of ministers and President Bashar Assad's top security and military officials on Wednesday was a bodyguard for the president's inner circle, a Syrian security source said.

Syrian state television said that Defence Minister Daoud Rajha was killed in the blast and a security source in Syria said Assad's brother-in-law, Assef Shawkat, was also killed.

They getting closer ASSad...id give back the people their country if i were you.

      allcoveredinNinjas - 2012-07-18 13:51

Breaching the inner circle - watch out for more atrocities as Assad begins the spiral of paranoia and self implosion . A few more high level defections and the end will be near .

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 14:09

Getting closer? What happened to Homs, Aleppo, not one city has been taken by these rebels. It looks really bad for the "rebels", after 16 months of fighting, not much has been achieved. This tells me that there is not much support within the Syrian population. A suicide bombing in Damascus...doesn't sound like a terroristy thing to do at all, does it?

      zaatheist - 2012-07-18 14:31

Fidel Why are you so supportive of Assad's gangster regime?

      sharon.a.marks.9 - 2012-07-18 14:52

another 5 million like him and the problems in syria will be solved --- for everyone

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 15:04

@zaatheist That is a binary world view (Them against Us). Asking questions doesn't make you a cheerleader for Assad – that's a false argument. It just makes you less susceptible to spin. The good news is, there's a sceptic born every minute.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-07-18 15:12

Fidel believes the Syrian revolution is fake. :)

      bradley.kecskes - 2012-07-18 15:18

Fidel is sleeping with the "enemy"(them)

      gieljam.gomtor - 2012-07-18 15:27

With body guards like this one who needs enemy's?

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 15:31

You lot seem unable to grasp that although I don't support the opposition it doesn't mean that I am an Assad lover. That is a false binary.

      henry.bose.39 - 2012-07-18 15:35

Hey Fidel How long was that CIA agent a part of assads bodygaurd? he he he. Assads goin down. Iran - you next

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-07-18 15:43

Fidel holds a core belief that the West is evil. Everything leads to this one immature belief. Occasionally he tries to cover it up, to pretend he has a balanced perspective, like now. But it bursts out at a moment's notice. The "binary view" as he calls it is so obviously his. Many people have pointed this out to him.

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 15:48

Do you believe that the Russians and the Chinese are going to sit back and watch the coalition of the killing turn country after country in which they have vital and strategic interests either into puppet states or failed and fragmented states?

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 15:56

@Fred Are you just a computer posting the same rubbish all over different news message boards? For 16 months, posting the same rubbish.......Aren't you programmed to say anything else? I do wonder if your head commissars are aware that you are exhibiting a sequelae of emotional disorder and that probably you are in need of a good long rest.. permanently!

      gerhard.kress.3 - 2012-07-18 16:04

Only Fidel does not see the writing on the wall.

      gerhard.kress.3 - 2012-07-18 16:07

Yes Fidel the russians and chinese will do that. Why don't you see that?

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 16:14

Stop with the idiocy! I think it was a big mistake when teachers started calling stupid kids "learning disabled". You might have been more motivated if they just gave it to you straight.

      gerhard.kress.3 - 2012-07-18 16:23

Fidel if people so close to him decide to kill, you and him must understand it is too close. Of course your stand on this issue shows that you are morally corrupt.

      gerhard.kress.3 - 2012-07-18 16:30

Fidel is an intellectual coward. She can not even show a photograph of herself.

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 16:46

All in all a fairly lame piece of trolling for a debate that I frankly couldn't be bothered with, I've seen the same trolls use the same strategy over and over and it's starting to wear thin.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-07-18 17:31

Fidel IS CROSS !!! So would I, if just about EVERYBODY tells me I talk 24/7 CRAP !!!!

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-07-18 17:34

Fidel, YOU were wrong with; TUNESIA EGYPT Very very wrong with LIBYA Wrong AGAIN with SYRIA And you are going to be wrong with; IRAN Politics is not some bullsh.t wishful thinking; it is REALITY !!

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 18:22

You are really big into popularity contests hey?

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-07-18 18:34

Fidel, ""although I don't support the opposition it doesn't mean that I am an Assad lover. That is a false binary."" Yes, so said the guy who raped this little girl; " I love kids "

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-18 18:49

How does any of that detract from the contents of what I wrote?

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-07-18 22:50

You can run, Fidel, but you can't hide from your delusions. They will find you. They're about to blow up in your face. The time is near.

power corrupts & absolute power corrupts absolutely. whats wrong with most politicians. are they myopic?

      allcoveredinNinjas - 2012-07-18 13:57

There is a strong correlation between high powered leaders and being sociopaths. One of the many reasons for curtailed leadership terms and succession.

  • Stuka - 2012-07-18 15:12

Defence Minister? \You kill by the sword, you die by the sword\. The families and friends of those killed and maimed by his command, are happy today.

  • Gavin - 2012-07-18 15:42

and so the noose tightens, ass-ad can't see this thing ending with him staying in power and living happily ever after ?? a leader worth his salt would step down the minute the country no longer wants him.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-07-18 18:37

True !! That was 50 years ago...but papa acid said; "who are you ?, this country belongs to me !! "

  • keith.murphy.9638 - 2012-07-18 17:49

Assad i urgently advice you to release your chemical stock pile and use it with immediate effect and get rid of the so called opposition backed by vampires.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-07-18 18:43

Most of the time, one laughs off this PRO dictators/tyrants/mass murderers ,as a bunch of LOSERS, But in reality, they are a bunch of dangerous SCUMBAGS. They don't belong in a democracy. THEY ABUSE IT. And although they are only a tiny minority, they should really be rounded up, and chucked into jail. THere have been enough innocent civilians murdered !!

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-07-18 22:44

The vampire Keith sees is his own violence and heartlessness that he denies.

  • douglas.hollis.7 - 2012-07-18 19:35

This is such exciting news! Have been wondering when something like this would happen. Assad's next, I'm sure. It just takes one 'trusted insider' (even a simple bodyguard) to change this game in one fell swoop. Hooray for the Free Syrian Army, fighting against the terrorist acts of Assad's corrupt regime. My heart goes out to the countless civilians who have perished so far in this brutal oppression. Women, children, the elderly...it's tragic, to say the least. To think there are some here who seem to have swallowed the government propaganda about 'terrorist groups'. Wow. Kinda takes ones breath away. Certainly no one who has honestly examined the evidence could share this view. Unless, of course, persuaded by their own prejudiced worldviews. Viva to the Syrian freedom fighters...I salute you for your courage.
