Syria deaths top 17 000 - claim

2012-07-09 19:01

Beirut - An opposition group that documents human rights violations in Syria says more than 17 000 people have been killed since the uprising against President Bashar Assad began in March 2011.

The violence has grown increasingly chaotic in recent months, and it is difficult to assign blame for much of the bloodshed as the country spirals toward civil war.

The government restricts journalists from moving freely, making it impossible to independently verify death tolls.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Monday that among the 17 129 deaths are 11 897 civilians, 4 348 soldiers and 884 military defectors.

The group has a network of activists on the ground who document deaths and rights violations through eyewitness, accounts, hospitals and video footage.

Another group, the Local Co-ordination Committees, says 14 841 civilians have been killed.

This is extremely sad, where are "activists" out there fighting on their behalf? Giving these people a voice? But no... it is counter productive to their Anti-Israeli Anti-Semetic doctrine...

Those fuelling this conflict via pumping arms to these rebels, while pretending to be in favour of peace, have blood on their hands as well.

Fidel, you and your lapdog Patrick are such bullsh.tters, to claim you give a damn about anyone 15000 km away, while not caring one bit about people on your own continent, in your own country, and living in the same town as yourselves, smacks on DISHONESTY !!!

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-07-10 03:10

No Patrick, I will explain slowly...... You , and your madam, Fidel, can only make negative remarks about the USA and Europe. You want the West to disinvest in Africa, and stop any aid, which will without any doubt, lead to massive job loss, and the starvation, and dying of MILLIONS of Africans. Only an enemy of Africa, can make such absurd suggestions. Than the question arises; but why than, would you care, about the people living in Syria ???? There can only be ONE answer; YOU DON'T CARE AT ALL! Both of you, in a dspicable way, USE the Syrian people, to further your mission to 'educate' the 'dumb' masses with your half baked pseudo intellectual BS, in the same way radicals and extremists been doing for the last sixty years, Almost words for word !!!! Both of you, ABUSE, your freedom, you deny others!!!

Bitching and moaning as usual. The fuzzy logic of your argument is admirable, but futile, and in reality, pretty weak.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-07-10 10:48

Fidel, I hope you realize, you are insulting other readers on this site !!!

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-07-10 12:12

I'll rather verbally abuse YOU than give you any much respect than you deserve!

Fidel and Patrick, Anthony has set out a clear description of your core beliefs and faulty attitudes, and the effect these would have on Africa and the Middle East. It would behoove you to pay attention and come out of your fake delusions that you superimposed onto reality. You're making fools of yourselves.
