2011-09-19 20:05

New York - Syria's leaders must answer for crimes against humanity that are being committed in their crackdown on anti-government protests, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said on Monday.

"Crimes against humanity are being committed in Syria and the leaders of the regime will have to answer for them," Juppe said in remarks at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

Juppe also said the status quo between Israel and the Palestinians was neither acceptable nor tenable and "risks an explosion of violence." He said he would meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas later on Monday.

And just when will the holier than thou French answer for their participation in the Rwandan Genocide? Or perhaps Algeria? Or perhaps to the fact that they have reneged on a deal with the people that helped to liberate France in WWII? More South Africans died in the Battle of Britain than French on the beaches of Normandy. France, go preach to nobody else except yourself, please.

It's boring Francois. Those are very old stories, some almost a hundred years old. Human consciousness learns a d grows, including through mistakes. By the same token no-one should ever stand up for what is right because they made mistakes somewhere along the line. Clearly not. Thankfully France stood up against the brutal dictator Gadhafi. Millions of Libyans are freer now.
