Berlin - Police say a Syrian man has been fatally shot in central Germany by two people who fired at him as his car stopped at a traffic light.

In a statement, police said the shooting happened late on Sunday night in Sarstedt town.

The two people are believed to have approached the man's car when it stopped and fired into it several times before fleeing.

Authorities didn't name the victim but said he was 35 and lived in the nearby city of Hildesheim. They said on Monday there is no word on the possible motive for the killing.
