Bogota - At least 10 persons were kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) late on Friday near San Rafael, in Colombia's northwest, officials said on Saturday.
Jorge Mejia, secretary of interior of the department of Antioquia, indicated that the rebel commandos took about 10 travellers who were staying at a lodge in that region.
"We are confirming the kidnap of eight or 10 people ... by FARC," the official told Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa.
According to the Mejia, the police have launched a rescue mission.
Local press reports put the number of kidnapped at 40, but officials did not confirm that version. - Sapa-DPA
