Train derails in Amsterdam

The Hague - A passenger train derailed on Monday at Amsterdam's central station but there were no casualties, rail authorities said.
"A passenger train derailed on the west side of the station," Fred Versfeld, said a spokesperson for the ProRail company that handles rail traffic in the country. "There were no victims."
He said the train derailed as it was leaving the station heading for the western town of Haarlem, breaking high-tension cables and blocking another train.
He had earlier said two trains had derailed.
"There is major damage," the spokesperson said. He said some rail services would be suspended for the rest of the day, including the line between Amsterdam and Schipol airport.
"Traffic has been totally immobilised from the derailment, but it will resume bit by bit on the lines where it is possible," said Versfeld.
It was the third train derailment at the station since June.
