'Tumour' of Israel will soon be destroyed

2012-08-17 16:22

Tehran - Israel is a "cancerous tumour" that will soon be finished off, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday told demonstrators holding an annual protest against the existence of the Jewish state.

"The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumour. Even if one cell of them is left in one inch of [Palestinian] land, in the future this story [of Israel's existence] will repeat," he said in a speech in Tehran marking Iran's Quds Day that was broadcast on state television.

"The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists," he said.

The diatribe took place amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran over Tehran's disputed nuclear programme.

The Jewish state has in recent weeks intensified its threats to possibly bomb Iran's nuclear facilities to prevent it having the capability to produce atomic weapons.

Iran, which is suffering under severe Western sanctions, denies its nuclear programme is anything but peaceful. Its military has warned it will destroy Israel if it attacks.

'Death to Israel'

State television showed crowds marching under blazing sunshine in Tehran and other Iranian cities to mark Quds Days, whose name, derived from Arabic, designates the city of Jerusalem, the disputed future capital of both the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Demonstrators held up Palestinian flags and pictures of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and banners reading "Death to Israel" and "Death to America". A group in Tehran was shown burning an Israeli flag.

The marches have been an annual event during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in Iran, ever since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

They underline Iran's antipathy to Israel and its ally the United States, and support for the Palestinian cause, which Khamenei on Wednesday called "a religious duty".

The supreme leader described Israel as a "bogus and fake Zionist outgrowth" in the Middle East that "will disappear".

The head of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards, General Mohammad Ali Jafari, told the Fars news agency as he attended the Tehran rally that "the Iranian nation has always been at the forefront of the [regional anti-Israeli] resistance in showing its animosity with Israel".

Past broadsides

He added that Iran intended to maintain that virulent stance.

Ahmadinejad, in his speech, claimed that "Zionists" triggered the first and second world wars, and had "taken control over world affairs since the moment they became dominant over the US government".

He asserted that major governments, banks and media were in thrall to a Zionist cabal whose aim was to "destroy the cultures, values and sovereignty of nations".

Ahmadinejad's past broadsides against Israel and its Jewish supports, and his denial that the Holocaust occurred, have earned him opprobrium from Western and other nations, and walk-outs during his addresses to the UN General Assembly.

Israel has been employing its own invective against Iran and its leaders, invoking the image of Hitler and the Nazis on the eve of World War II and accusing Tehran of being bent on Israeli genocide.

Something to contemplate: Would the God of Love call for one man to go and slay another man when he created and loves them both equally? I doubt it, such an order is contradictory to the nature of God which is Unconditional Love. That also means we are all equal, and no the Jews are not his chosen ... MAN said that, not God, for the same reason: it is contrary to the nature of God for him to declare one man above another, unconditional love dictates that all are equal. Think about it... We have written HUMAN traits into scripture and have claimed they are God's words and we have fought wars defending these beliefs... but have you questioned these beliefs, and have you REALLY pondered the nature of God? If you have, you cannot escape the fact that scripture is NOT God's words.

      deon.louw.3762 - 2012-08-17 21:59

@ivan, I fear that you confuse your personal opinion for actual Biblical scripture and history. I challenge you to present: 1. 1 defense that God is unconditional love 2. 1 defense that states all men are equal 3. 1 defense that Scripture is not God's words. A theologian your are clearly not, though you try to sound like one. I suggest sticking to the issue at hand.. you'll appear smarter that way.

      ivan.schoultz - 2012-08-18 15:15

@deon.louw.3762 - WTF??? You want me to convince you? Seriously!!! I pose a thought experiment and you want proof/evidence/rationale/whatever ??? ... Absolutely pathetic! You have clearly not understood the point!!! You have obviously made up your mind what you choose to believe and will do/demand anything to prop-up and defend that belief, which is why you challenge me on those 3 points. If you had "got the point" you would know that the result of the thought experiment I propose, IOW the thing you end up with is: UNDERSTANDING. Evidence/proof/rationale/whatever-it-is-you want cannot (and will not) be given to you to bring you to a point of understanding. Nobody can give you anything to make you think, that is something you yourself have to choose to do. Nobody can package a thing called "awareness" and give you as a pill to pop. Enlightenment is not something that is given as evidence/proof/rationale/whatever, it is a state of being you arrive at after doing a lot of thinking. If you want any of this "stuff" you have to be willing to receive it (currently you are definitely NOT open to it, else you would not pose any challenge to it) and that means you have to allow yourself to be convinced ... Nobody can convince you except you. (... and no, before anyone puts undue words in my mouth, I am not saying I am enlightened, but I am certainly on that path ... a path which a lot of people have not even started on yet, yet seem determined to know all about it.)

  • ivan.schoultz - 2012-08-17 17:22

It matters not which side threw the first stone, nor who threw the last stone ... what matters is who's going to be the first to stop throwing stones? Can they still not see that war does not solve problems ... tolerance; acceptance; love etc. does. IMHO both sides need a serious dose of chill-pill.

  • louis.langenhoven - 2012-08-17 17:49

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-08-17 19:28

It's important to distinguish between the election-adjusting Iranian regime and the Iranian people. Two different things. There are millions of Iranians bubbling for greater freedom and truer government. They're about to explode. Ahmedinejad and the Ayatollahs sense this. It scares them. This is why they're coming out so strongly with anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian rhetoric. Like the Apartheid regime and "die rooi gevaar". If they truly cared about the Palestinians, wouldn't they give them the few neighborhoods the Palestinians need to call home?

They are waiting for israel to make the first move and then they will be justified in the eyes of the world especially the arab world to strike back with huge force. Israelis should just move to the USA and let the arabs fight amongst themselves. Nice big Mojavi desert ready and empty.

Again, Ahmedinejad and Khomeini head an illegitimate, oppressive regime. In truth they do not represent the majority of Iranians. If they did they wouldn't have to adjust elections to stay in power. This will become clear in the near future. Iran is ready to explode towards greater freedom and human rights.

What atrocities in Palestine? How do they compare with the current day atrocities in Syria?

      Tony-Lapson - 2014-09-12 15:02

Larry, Yaseen is speaking of the atrocities of bad parenting and gardianship, where Palestinians would rather place their children in the line of fire than evacuate them from a retaliation zone, just so that they can parade the corpses around to arouse emotional support from people who don't try to understand the cause and effect of the situation. Of course, you will never find the anti-Israel crowd call for 'humanity' in Syria or Iraq. Their slogan is "It's not about religion, it's about humanity" yet they care not for the non-Muslims slaughtered by the thousands over the last couple of years in the most torturous and barbaric of ways. It's the hypocrisy of the anti-jew palestinian supporters are what drives me to pay interest in the situation.

We all know that Israel is quite a source of trouble in the middle east. Iran has only ever explained that they want nuclear power for peaceful use. Nobody seems to give Iran the benefit of the doubt. It is high time we stop with our prejudicial attitude of countries and people. Look what USA did to Iraq because of Bush's lies. If it was not for the balance of power that Russia and China offer to the middle east, I think that the USA would have had a burning full scale war in that region.

Godwin, you only have authority to speak for yourself.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-09-03 16:19

Israel was created in 1948 from 52% of the land formerly occupied by the Jewish and Palestinian people, and Palestine 43%. Most of the Israeli territory was the Negev Desert. Jerusalem fell into neither territory. Palestinians with their unelected, self-serving neighbors declared war on Israel the very next day. In the 1960's they even invaded Israel twice. Full military invasions. The result: Israel survived and pushed them back, gaining territory in the process. This is the origin of what some wrongly call "occupied territories". There have been almost daily attacks by Palestinians, incited by their self-serving unelected backers. Palestinians even teach their children at Kindergarten to attack Israel, rather than be peaceful. Children. Kindergarten. From day one, and even today it's wage war on Israel. Israel defends herself. Yes sometimes going too far, which is unacceptable, but self-defense nonetheless. All that needs to happen is for Palestinians to choose peace side by side with Israel. This is more likely going forward now because the unelected dictators are being removed from power by their people one by one. They will no longer use the Palestinians for their own internal political ploys.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-09-03 16:20

The Iranian regime adjusts elections to hold onto power. It has stolen the Iranian government from the Iranian people. It funds the Jihadist movement that has killed and maimed hundreds of thousands of innocent people, mainly Muslims in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. It is supporting Bashar Assad's brutal oppression of Syrians wanting nothing more than the right to vote. It supports the stoning of women. It openly calls for the elimination of Israel and denies the Holocaust, the single biggest attempt at human genocide in human history: six million people exterminated. It is dishonest, highly repressive, and self-serving at the expense of the Iranian people and humanity. It's days are numbered, and it knows this. This is the regime that you want to give "the benefit of the doubt to". Clearly naive.

      Tony-Lapson - 2014-09-12 15:22

Haha, "Iran has only ever explained that they want nuclear power for peaceful use" Yet they have no shame in threatening the genocide of an entire nation. Got to love the hypocrisy! It's oozes from every pore of every anti-Israel protester! "It's not about religion! It's about the humanity of hating Israel!" 1 nation surrounded by at least 18 Islamic countries who call for their destruction... (not all 23 hate Israel) 23 Islamic countries and not a single cent to spare for helping Palestine. Palestine is the Arabic Australia for outcasts and untouchables. But they are also the wanted example to breed hatred against the historical nemesis that is the Jew.
