Turkish PM: Hear Syria's screams

2011-11-17 20:15

Ankara - Turkey's prime minister says the world must urgently "hear screams" from Syria and do something to stop the bloodshed.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan says measures must be taken for the safety of energy supplies as well as global peace. Erdogan did not specify any possible actions.

He spoke on Thursday at an international energy conference in Istanbul.

However, he is calling on the international community to be sensitive to the plight of Syrian people as much as they were to the uprising in oil-rich Libya. He says the Syrian conflict posed a global threat.

Syrian President Bashar Assad's brutal repression of the 8-month-old Syrian uprising has left an estimated 3 500 dead and crippled the country's exports of heavy crude oil after the European Union banned oil imports from Syria.

Before Turkey can point a finger at anyone, they should look at their own human rights record. What are they still doing in Cyprus, which they took by force with a little help from their freinds America and England. They do not have any claim to this country. Southern Cyprus been a recognised democracy, unlike nothern Cyprus. Many Greek Cypriots lost their homes their livlihood above all they lost their sons, many have yet to be found. Now that oil has been found off the coast of CYPRUS what are the major powers going to do support another invasion or stand by the Greek CYPRIOTS and allow them to claim what is rightfully theirs.

Terrorist supporting Turkey is no longer an asset to NATO. It uses NATO weapons to murder innocent Kurdish civilians in Iraq - a war crime committed with NATO weapons. When will Turkey apologize for the massacre of Armenians and Cypriots? Mr. Erdogan does not like to be reminded of the massacre of Armenians. He also does not like to be asked about his government's invasion of Cyprus and the expulsion of Greek Cypriots. Mr. Erdogan is one big hypocrite.
