Twitter report on Assad health a hoax

2012-08-06 19:11

Moscow - A Twitter account that carried a message on Monday suggesting Syrian President Bashar Assad may have been killed was a "hoax", the account's most recent update said.

The earlier message, purporting to be on a Russian interior ministry account, had attributed the reports to Russia's ambassador in Damascus.

Both the embassy and the Interior Ministry denied making any comments on Assad's condition.

His end is near. Tragic. It did not need to be this way had he lead Syria truly.

Unfortunately to Patrick the unelected dictator of Syria represents the legitimate government of Syria. Assad's father handed him the reigns of power. He is in control of the Syrian state and its military, killing, detaining, torturing and raping tens of thousands of Syrians just because they want to vote in free and fair elections. Just 12 countries out of the 166 on Earth believe Assad is a legitimate leader. Guess who those countries are? The least democratic, most autocratic, least legitimate on Earth.
