UK PM's wife praises model husband

London - Madame Tussauds unveiled a waxwork of David Cameron on Thursday - and the life-like model won immediate praise from the new British premier's pregnant wife Samantha.

"They've done the most incredible job, it's amazing. He looks so real. He just looks identical to him really," she said at the London museum, adding that her husband would also be impressed.

"I'm sure he'll love it," added the premier's wife, who is due to give birth in September.

Posing with her model husband, she declined to give him a kiss, saying: "I'm worried I might leave my lipstick on him."

The waxwork - which cost £150 000 and took a team of 20 people to make - went on display less than two months after Cameron's Conservative Party won a general election.

Cameron heads a coalition with the Liberal Democrats, after defeating former premier Gordon Brown's Labour party in May 6 polls.

Unusually, Madame Tussauds never made a model of Brown, who succeeded Tony Blair in 10 Downing Street in 2007 after allegedly orchestrating a coup against him former friend-turned-rival.

Explaining the lack of a Brown waxwork, Tussauds boss Edward Fuller said: "We make waxworks of all our prime ministers who are elected and Gordon Brown wasn't elected."
