UK cops start lie detector experiment

2011-12-31 21:07

London - A police force in Britain has begun experimenting with the use of lie detectors to determine whether charges should be brought against suspected sex offenders.

The experiment by police in Hertfordshire, a county in southern England, could prove controversial because the country's police and courts generally avoid using lie detectors tests to charge or convict suspects because they are considered unreliable.

Hertfordshire police said on Saturday they have begun using lie detectors on some suspected sex offenders and will conduct a year-long experiment with that procedure in 2012.

Would be a good thing if lie detectors could be used on crime suspects and admissible in SA courts. They can start with Dewani.Cases would be concluded in a matter of time and save huge costs. Pity its always about the human rights of the accused and not those of the victim.
