London - A British teacher accused of abducting a teenage
girl pleaded not guilty Friday when he appeared in court via videolink from
prison.
Jeremy Forrest, 30, was remanded in custody after the
hearing at Lewes Crown Court in Sussex, southern England.
There was no application for bail and his trial was set for 10
June.
Forrest, a married maths teacher from London, sparked a
Europe-wide search last September when he disappeared with the teenager, who
cannot be named for legal reasons.
He was detained in France, in the south-western city of
Bordeaux, on 28 September after police issued a European warrant for his
arrest.
The amateur musician was extradited back to Britain and
charged with child abduction. The girl was flown back to Britain in September
and reunited with her family.
