US teen - killing is amazing, enjoyable

Jefferson City - A US teenager who admitted stabbing, strangling and slitting the throat of a young neighbour girl wrote in her journal on the night of the killing that it was an "ahmazing" and "pretty enjoyable" experience - then headed off to church with a laugh.

The words written by Alyssa Bustamante were read aloud in court on Monday as part of a sentencing hearing to determine whether she should get life in prison or something less for the October 2009 murder of her neighbour, 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten, in Missouri.

Bustamante, 18, sat silently as law enforcement officers, attorneys and forensics experts read aloud the thoughts she had recorded as a 15-year-old.

A handwriting expert described how he was able to see through the blue ink that Bustamante had used in an attempt to cover up her original journal entry on the night of Elizabeth's murder. He read the entry aloud:

"I just f------ killed someone. I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead. I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the 'ohmygawd I can't do this' feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now...lol."

The journal entry was presented to the judge not long after Elizabeth's mother and other relatives pleaded with the Cole County judge to impose the maximum sentence.

Bustamante pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action last month and faces at most a sentence of life in prison. The least she could get is 10 years.

How it felt

Elizabeth's mother, Patty Preiss, described her daughter as "happy, little girl," when she left her home after begging to go play with Bustamante's younger sister.

"So much has been lost at the hands of this evil monster," Preiss tearfully said.

FBI agents seized the journal from Bustamante's bedroom during a search of her family's home the day after Elizabeth went missing as hundreds of volunteers scoured the rural area.

Elizabeth's body was found concealed under leaves in a grave in the woods behind the Bustamante home.

At a hearing in 2009, Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt David Rice testified that the teenager told him "she wanted to know what it felt like" to kill someone.

Defence attorneys on Monday highlighted Bustamante's troubled childhood, referring to numerous references in her journal describing her suicidal feelings and the urge to hurt herself and others.

America has become a violent video game. Having been brain washed by Hollywood, and TV, that murder, slaughter, violence, etc, is just a game and full on entertainment now expanded to horrific computer games. Is it any wonder that what the US citizens are doing to each other is seen as an extension of this FUN! Americans love killing.........too much!

Oh please, don't talk about the US like South Africa is a paradise itself. Even if we were still living in the stone ages without TV or video games, there would still be some sick individuals among us killing just for the fun of it.

Your anti-American sentiment is noted. Your name - nom de plume, or nom de guerre if you please - is also noted. And put into context with your profile photo, immediately discounts your sentiment as ill-informed drivel.

Americans are exactly the opposite, I have lived in America For 10 years, I can only tell you about medical staff that take upto 3 months unpaid leave to help the sick in Africa. They are constantly donating money towards helping fight cancer, last year 1 event raised $150 000,all given by hard working people. a co-workers home burnt down, the community made sure she had a place to stay (for free)till she got back on her feet. The same community helped cloth her 4 kids and made food for them. I have only experienced only one incident of crime. And it was mistaken identity, someone got in the wrong rental car at the airport. In two years In south Africa I have experienced 5 house break ins, one assault, two hijackings one of which my cousin was shot and killed, left laying in tembisa. So I am going to have to tell you to stick hour head back into that hole you live in and don't remark if you have no clue. This is one incident and you blame movies, video games and TV, by the way, the majority of people I met hated TV, they do other things like reading, talking and game nights.

"an "ahmazing" and "pretty enjoyable" experience - then headed off to church with a laugh". Well there you have it. More proof that religion and belief in an invisible sky daddy is a mental illness which can manifest itself in extreme and dangerous ways. Of course if she now repents, tells Jesus she is sorry, she can still go to heaven. Right?

she could have gone to school after the killing. Would you then attribute the killing to the education system ? No you wouldn't, but you didn't thnk of it that way because you reason like a drunken retard. religion(expt satanism) forbids murder, the only relation this incident has with religion is violating it's very principles. I can't believe you saw a story, sad as this one as a chance to spread your ignorant views.

@Kabelo I see your god is a do as I say, not as I do, god because the god of the bible killed every man, women, child, baby, fetus and animal on the planet, destroyed a town with fire and brimstone, turned a women into salt just for looking, ordered his followers on many occasions to massacre others and threats infinite torture to all those that do not worship him enough. The bible also diminishes the value of life by promising an infinite afterlife. According to christian doctrine Elisabeth in now in heaven, experiencing total bliss, so Alyssa actually did her a favor. The very symbol of christianity (the cross) is an instrument of torture. So yes christianity probably did play a part in Alysssa mental state. "The Bible is probably the most genocidal book ever written." Noam Chomsky

She has obviously been a monster all her life if even her mother pleaded for the maximum sentence. One wonders what external influences cause someone to reach a point where they enjoy taking someones life. Shocking!

Which story did you read? The one in your head?
