US to sell fighter jets to Saudi Arabia

2011-12-29 22:01

Honolulu - The White House said on Thursday a $29.4bn deal to sell Boeing-made fighter jets to Saudi Arabia's air force would support more than 50 000 US jobs and give the American economy a $3.5bn annual boost.

White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said the government to government deal included production of 84 new aircraft and upgrades to 70 existing aircraft as well as munitions, spare parts, training, maintenance and logistics.

"This agreement reinforces the strong and enduring relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and demonstrates the US commitment to a strong Saudi defense capability as a key component to regional security," Earnest said in a statement from Hawaii, where President Barack Obama is vacationing.

Warmongering nations like America, Britain, France, etc, have armament industries that need to be working flat out! Warmongers are continually on the lookout for places to explode their toys. War, weapons design, development and manufacture, systems technology and strategic tactics for deployment are all jobs in the US capitalist model. Libya and Iraq are also being tempted to go shopping in the US. War is a racket!

A definition, Oxford English Dictionary - Imperialist: relating to, supporting, or practising imperialism. So . . . Imperialism: a policy of extending a country’s power and influence through colonization, use of military force, or other means. Just so that we are clear on the definition.

@Garth By most accounts, America is a global empire. And because Afrikaaner education system abstained from educating its youth about the concept of empire, I will offer some insights. An empire is different from a single state. An empire has a motherland, and hinterlands which serve the motherland. That service usually benefits the motherland often to the detriment of the hinterlands. Empires dont have to be run by a ruler who officially crowns himself 'emperor'. By inheriting dominance over the colonies created by the European imperialists, such as the entire Middle East (itself a term coined by British imperialists), America has also inherited the risks involved in maintaining nation states which are largely deemed illegitimate by their own people. Thus, America is in a position to sustain that which a growing number of people deem either unsustainable or unworthy of sustaining. The Project for the New American Century, or PNAC, is a Washington-based think tank created in 1997. Above all else, PNAC desires and demands one thing: The establishment of a global American empire to bend the will of all nations. Stick with me and I'll keep you up to speed.

@ Graziella - methinks you presume too much. Merely because I COMPLETED my school years at a South African, dual medium, co-ed High School does not mean that I cannot think outside of the bounds of some teacher's opinion. Do not believe everything that your particular tastes allow you to read. Break the mould set about you by your narrow-minded political learnings. And who are the PNAC when they are advising Obama and the rest of the American imperialists on foreign policy?

      Graziella - 2011-12-30 16:21

You first need to learn how American foreign policy works. You are the one that is full of assumptions, and because someone holds a perticular political view you assume which party that person is alligned to.
