Rio De Janeiro - A 20-year-old woman died in a bungee jumping accident when the belt securing her to the cord broke and she fell 50m, firefighters said on Monday.
Law student Leticia Sanatrem Amaro Rodrigues was among a group of about 20 people who planned to bungee jump from a railroad bridge in Uberlandia, some 700km northwest of Rio de Janeiro.
Rodrigues was the first member of the group to jump on Sunday morning.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, her father had already taken her to the Federal University of Uberlandia Clinical Hospital, where she died from severe head wounds about four hours later.
